Holiday Shopping on Vashon Island on Edibles
Better known as shopping by boat! It’s pretty simple. Achieving the sublime during the holidays, that is. All you have to do is get away for a day and visit a beautiful, wild and artsy place like Vashon Island. Combine some tasty edibles with solid Christmas shopping options, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for damn good day! Let’s take a trip to Vashon Island for a cannabis infused shopping experience.
On The Way To The Ferry

2019 DOPE CUP 3rd place Best THC Edible
Take the C-Line Metro Bus to West Seattle and get off at the stop for Canna West at California Ave., and Findlay St. The dispensary is located in an old Craftsman-style house and has the best selection of edibles. My favorite are the Craft Elixirs’ Pioneer Squares! I highly recommend any flavor they have to offer! Canna West has a versatile selection of edibles to choose from, including chocolates and beverages which you can browse online HERE.
After your visit to Canna, get back on the bus and head down 2 miles to the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal. After you purchase a ticket with your debit card, eat your first dose of edibles. Yes, I said the first dose! This is going to be a long day.
It gets cold and windy outside on the ferry boat, even in the summer, so bundle up! Enjoy the majestic views of the deep blue Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west.
Arriving on Vashon
Once you land on the island, hop the bus into town. It is a five mile ride into Vashon’s town. The town is quaintly small, only about half a mile long and a quarter of a mile wide.
First item of business, rent electric bikes! Situated near the middle of town and across the street from the Vashon Theater sits Vashon Adventures, where a 2-hour eBike rental will cost you $40 and comes complete with a helmet and a map.
You can decide on your eBiking *adventure, but recommend heading South on Vashon Highway first to the Vashon Country Store & Farm. There you will find an array of local goods. Everything from clothing to foodie-lovers items to gardening tools, toys and more. Presented in a rustic fashion, they supply quality goods and also support local vendors.
*For those true fairy nerds out there, of which I am one since I have daughters, there is a cool diversion you could take on your eBike adventure. It is located at the Vashon Open Space for Arts and Community. What is it? Tiny, handcrafted fairy houses in the woods. It is a trip, but worth it!
Food, Shopping and More Food
After returning your bikes it’s time for lunch! Take that second edible and stroll down the street towards Camp Colvos Brewing. There you’ll find house brewed beers and possibly the best pizza on Vashon!
Where to shop after lunch? You can’t really go wrong by walking down one side of the street in Vashon town, hitting up all of those stores, crossing the street and repeating the pattern in the other direction. Don’t miss out on a visit to the Vashon Pharmacy. Yeah, it is a pharmacy, but it is so much more! It’s the center-stone of the Vashon retail scene.
If you’re visiting the island anytime between Wed-Sat, I recommend taking a short walk to Granny’s Attic, the best thrift spot on the island! Vintage treasures all around. The shop is a retro collectors dream!
As your shopping day comes to a close, get yourself some dinner at May Kitchen and Bar before heading back to the ferry boat. Not only is it the best Thai food on Vashon, it is some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had, anywhere! The owner and head chef, May Chaleoy, is typically cooking each night and there’s a good chance you might meet her when she makes her rounds around her restaurant. The bar is top notch too!
That about concludes a full day of holiday shopping on Vashon Island on edibles. Darkness should be upon you after dinner. Take one more edible and enjoy a picturesque ferry ride home.
