Will COVID kill CANNABIS? An interview with Alison Morrow and Canna CEO Maryam Mirnateghi
Cannabis growers and retailers are still operating despite the economic shutdown caused by the Covid-19 shelter in place orders nationwide. The cannabis industry has been categorized as “essential” by state laws just like grocery stores and gas stations, but is currently ineligible for federal stimulus funding since it is still considered a federally illegal substance. That means cannabis growers and retailers are still paying all the state and federal taxes required before the Covid crisis but receiving none of the financial help offered to businesses by the $2 trillion federal economic recovery package.
