Intro To Dabbing
Dabbing is a popular method of cannabis consumption that involves using high-potency cannabis extracts, or concentrates. Dabbing has rapidly grown in popularity in recent years due to its potency and efficiency. In addition, since legalization, the quality and potency of concentrates offers consumers a larger variety of premium extracts in various flavors, textures and potency levels.
The process of dabbing usually involves using a dab rig, blow torch or an electronic nail heated to a high temperature. An extract containing a high percentage of THC is placed on the heated surface, which vaporizes the extract instantly. The resulting vapors are then inhaled by the user through a water pipe AKA dab rig.
The extracts used for dabbing are known as concentrates and can contain up to 80-90% THC, which is much higher than the 15-20% THC typically found in high-quality cannabis flower. Some common forms of concentrates for dabbing include butter, shatter, wax, sugar, crystals and oil.
With the high potency of dabbing extracts, consumers often report feeling the effects much faster and stronger compared to smoking regular cannabis. The onset of the effects is usually almost instant due to the potency that is inhaled deeply into the lungs. A typical dab can produce a high that lasts on average an 1-2 hours, however for some consumers, they may feel the euphoric effects for up to 4-5 hours.
While dabbing delivers a powerful and efficient cannabis experience, some health concerns have been raised. The high temperatures used in dabbing can potentially produce toxic chemicals and carcinogens depending on your rig and routine. Additionally, the high potency of dabbing extracts makes overconsumption and “greening out” more likely for inexperienced users.

However, when consuming concentrates, responsibly and in moderation, dabbing remains a popular method of consuming cannabis for its potency, efficiency and unique experience. Plus, the benefits and enjoyment of full flavor terpene profiles!
As with any method of consuming cannabis, it is important for users to be aware of proper safety techniques, start with low doses, and monitor their consumption. With care and caution, dabbing can deliver one of the most enjoyable cannabis experiences for both medical and recreational consumers alike.
