West Seattle Art Walk Featuring Dakota Dean
Join us tonight, Thursday, February 8 from 5-8pm for the West Seattle Art Walk! This month we are excited to feature the extraordinary works of local artist and visionary, Dakota Dean.
Dakota’s work can be found in art galleries all around the Puget Sound and as murals around town. Be sure to look for him at all the major festivals this summer too!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Dakota’s ceaseless pursuit of self-acceptance and understanding, combined with his passion for mental health and advocacy for those who have also suffered from mood disorders is expressed vividly through his works. Using only spray paint and a few satirical news articles, Dakota Dean’s vibrant graffiti backgrounds incorporate bold and edgy stencil overlays, using iconic cultural personalities and images to challenge societal norms with trademark “Dakota” sarcasm. His art questions our addictions: to pop-culture, pharmaceuticals, sex, love, and money; and challenges our desires to conform, and encourages us to celebrate being unique.
