Baking Pumpkin Pot Brownies with Locally-Sourced, Organic Weed!

An educated cannabis consumer today can buy shake (flower-bud) in bulk fashion and make infused cannabutter, or oils to cook with, which then allows them to make everything from pot brownies to herb-infused roasted chicken. In the process they are saving quite a ton of money compared with buying it at retail, and also have complete control over the baking process. Granted, professional bakers cooked the edibles available for sale at the retail level, and as a result the 10-milligram dosage is legally spot-on. You know exactly what you are getting from a dose perspective, whereas cooking at home can be a bit more adventurous, in a good way.
The key to getting the most bang for your buck with cannabis baking is in being able to find those cannabis retailers that not only sell pot in bulk, but also from organic and (even better) locally sourced providers. The Pacific Northwest is a foodie culture, and so many Seattleites expect organic and local fare from their favorite eateries. They should expect the same from the cannabis products they consume, but the reality is that organic and local is a small offering at most retail locations, if at all. That’s one area where we differentiate ourselves from some of our retail brethren – we actually care about what our customers put in their bodies. This experience is all about them.
Ask yourself, would you rather grocery shop at Fred Meyer or PCC? If you would naturally choose the former, we should hang out sometime!
At Canna West we sell an ounce of organic shake from Vashon Island Organics, a farm that is literally a 15-minute ferry ride across the Puget Sound from our California Ave location, for $40. Even better, we sell Vashon Organics’ 14-gram Cannabutter Kits, designed specifically for cooking, for $60. The kits are made with extra “sugary” small buds, which means they have a higher concentration of active ingredients and make a higher quality and more potent infused butter.
As PNW residents, we are lucky for the bountiful harvest that surrounds us each fall, and so without further ado I would like to share my favorite seasonal, organic pumpkin brownie recipe with you. Come see us if you need to stock up on supplies, and happy cooking!
